Waste in C. Jakarta Reduced By 30 Percent

Central Jakarta Environment Sub-dept. continues to reduce waste volume that will be transported to Bantar Gebang Integrated Dumpsite (TPST). Until now, waste can be reduced into 1,765 cubic meters per day.

From total 6,000 cubic meters of trash per day, we can reduce it to 1,765 cubic meters or by around 30 percent

"From total 6,000 cubic meters of trash per day, we can reduce it to 1,765 cubic meters or by around 30 percent. Some are used to make compost and handicraft," mentioned Marsigit, Head of Central Jakarta Environment Sub-dept., Monday (4/23).

Meanwhile, waste that can't be recycled will be taken to Bantar Gebang TPST. "We encourage urban village and sub-district heads to socialize their residents about waste sorting for recycling. Thus we only discard waste that can't be recycled," he stated.

Waste Banks in Cipete Utara Effectively Reduce Waste Volume

Other way to reduce waste volume is to build two waste sorting locations. One in Kemayoran and other in Senayan Gelora Bung Karno (GBK).

"We have started to build it in Kemayoran. While the other will be built this year in GBK. We will also add more waste banks," he informed.
